Bison Cafe Serving up Hot Drinks and Life Lessons

The Bison Café has been up and running for two months and it has been seen as a huge success. The student –run café is finishing up its fall drink specials and starting to prepare for the winter season offering drinks like Dark Chocolate Mocha and Peppermint Hot Chocolate. The Bison Café will also be working with the school’s holiday fundraiser offering the exclusive Bison Blend along with the Equal Exchange coffees, teas and gift items – so all you coffee drinkers out there get ready! Even if you’re not a coffee drinker, the Bison Blend and Equal Exchange items make great gifts!

The Bison Café not only benefits the parents and students of MSD by serving them delicious coffee and Espresso drinks, it also benefits the students working in the café. The café is teaching students valuable life and work lessons such as responsibility and routine as well as all of what goes into running a business. The students have been surprised by the amount of work and dedication that goes into running a business. Things like counting money, balancing a bank account, maintaining enough inventory and developing systems are all lessons the students are learning to make the café run smoothly.

The middle school students already love the Bison Café and are excited to see what else they can add to the café and learn from the experience in the coming months.
