Montessori is more than just an education, it is a philosophy of life.

About Us

The Montessori Center of South Dayton, Inc. (MCSD) is a private, nonprofit Montessori school devoted to offering a Montessori education to children between the ages of two and nine (toddler through 3rd grade). MCSD traces its roots to 1964, when it rented space in the Horace Mann School in Dayton and was known as the Montessori School of South Dayton. In 1967, its own facility was built and still operates at 1015 Lincoln Park Boulevard in Kettering. As the school grew, we rented additional space from the United Church of Christ on Bigger Road in Kettering. We again outgrew that space, and in 1988, moved to our current location within the Kettering Educational Arts Center at 2900 Acosta Street in Kettering, and became the Montessori Center of South Dayton, Inc.

We offer AM and PM classes for preschool through Kindergarten and a class for six to nine year old children (first through third grade). Additionally, we provide Montessori Plus Child Care services for our pre-school and school age children.

We are affiliated with the American Montessori Society, certified by the State of Ohio Board of Education, and licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. We are also members of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau of Dayton/Miami Valley, Inc.

Our student population represents the greater Dayton area, spanning from Trotwood to Middletown, and from Germantown to Springfield. Our diversity is both cultural and geographic among the students and the staff. This diversity adds to the richness of the Montessori experience.
