Discover MSD

The Montessori School of Dayton (MSD) student body represents the diversity of the Dayton area. Our diversity is both cultural and ethnic among the students and staff. This diversity adds to the richness of the Montessori experience.

The Bison, our school mascot, represents strength, life, a proud heritage and the strong community we have built. Our vision is to allow our children "The freedom to learn and the power to lead," which is reflective of the Montessori goals and philosophy.

Leading the school and building upon its rich heritage are Toby and Tim Meixner, the directors of MSD. Toby began her career with the school in 1999, and has since become the director of the school and co-owner of the school building with her husband. Tim Meixner runs the business operations and manages the school facility in partnership with Toby. Tim holds a Masters degree in Educational Administration and a PhD in Organizational Management.

We work hard in creating a supportive and involved community of parents and students through group activities, parent’s nights, family dinners, our annual family heritage gathering, student government, and an active parent’s organization. Our students also learn to contribute through various service projects such as running and managing our Bison Café, supporting local food drives, visiting nursing homes to share the joy of music with the residents, recycling programs, community gardens and other local charity events.

We encourage interested parents to schedule a tour of our school to learn more about our approach and to see and experience MSD in action.
