Admissions Process

The admissions process generally begins with parents learning about MSD and going to the web site. We encourage you to look over the various sections of the web site to learn more about our school and about a Montessori education. After learning more about us, we encourage parents to contact us to set up a tour of the school or to request an information packet. Our information packet includes a tuition schedule, brochure, the most recent newsletter and parent workshop information.

Please schedule a tour of MSD. What better way to understand all you have read about MSD than to sit in on a classroom while in session. In-classroom observations begin mid-October of each school year. A tour will be offered, and the Admissions Staff will take time to sit down with you and address any questions that the visit generates, specifically focusing on your child and your needs.

If the parents feel there is a good match, the next step is the application process. Parents pay a $50 application fee and fill out the application. Once the application is received a tour is scheduled where both the parents and the child tour the school together and separately. During the tour, a teacher will work with your child to determine grade appropriate skills and will assess their ability and fit with the Montessori method of learning.

Once accepted, parents will be notified and can then formally enroll their student in MSD by filling out additional paperwork as part of the admission process. The Montessori School of Dayton is a non-profit institution dependent upon tuition for funds necessary to pay for employees’ salaries and operating expenses. Upon signing an enrollment contract parents assume responsibility for payment of tuition for the entire school year. It is understood that no reduction in the yearly charge will be allowed for absence, withdrawal, or dismissal during the school year.
